Message window size and location not remembered

Whenever I create a new message the associated window is really small and in an inconvenient location (half off of my Desktop).
How do I change the default size and position of the new message window such that all of it is visible on my desktop?Create a new message and resize and position it accordingly. Then hold CTRL when pressing the X in the upper right corner of the window to close it. This should force saving the location and size of the window.

Note that this tip in not limited to Outlook or the message window but works for pretty much all Windows applications.
